Littlefield Scores Twice As Beverley Town Beat Chalk Lane

Beverley Town Football Club secured all three points as they came from a goal down to beat Chalk Lane 3-1 at the Norwood Recreation.

A second half brace from the Matty Littlefield ensured Town started the year with all three points and also climb one place in Humber Premier League.

Town’s assistant coach Arthur Jessop said;

“This was a great team performance. Everyone played a huge part and I thought we fully deserved the win.”

“We went behind against the run of play and showed great character to get back in the game. It’s difficult to single out individuals, but Matty Littlefield was on fire today.”

“I thought our defence was superb, particularly Danny MacHale and Max Thomas, who kept the experienced Scott Phillips quiet all game.”

“We won today as a result of a great team effort, fitness, tempo, pressure and quality. All round we were the better side.”

Town started the stronger of the tow sides though against the run of play fell behind when Chris Wainman showed great agility to as he volleyed home from 7 yards out.

After falling behind Town seemed to lose their way in the game and as the momentum switched to the visitors they looked to find their new star signing Scott Phillips.

Town nearly levelled the match after some good work presented Craig Muirhead just two yards out with an open goal however his effort was was matched by Chalk Lanes keeper Liam Gordon.

Parity was restored when Murihead got Town level before the break with all three points being secured by Littlefield double in the second period.

Town’s skipper Nathan White praised the side after the game, he said;

“It was an excellent first half performance and a top effort from all the lads. We played the right way all the way through the game. At the back we were solid, McHale and  Thomas made sure Phillips was a non event.”

A goal in each ensured it was Beverley Town Football Club who got all three points as they beat East Yorkshire Carnegie 2-0 at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Craig Muirhead opened the scoring for Town from the penalty spot mid way through the first half before scoring a cracking goal to second half to complete his brace.

A delighted Town boss Rich Jagger speaking after the match said;

“I am really pleased with both the performance and the result.  We had a clear game plan and worked hard at it in training on Thursday, and the lads executed it perfectly during the game.”

“It took us ten minutes to get used to the way we wanted to play, and to be fair to EYC they could have been three up in that spell.”

“After that though we got things sorted and every single one of the lads executed our plan and did what was asked of them.  Second half we created more chances and in the end could have won it by a bigger margin.”

“Defensively I thought we were excellent, we’ve got the third best defensive record in the league with only the top two better than us, and Max Thomas and Danny McHale at the back were excellent.”

“ I thought Joe Norton worked his socks off and our two forwards never stopped working .  Overall it’s hard to single anyone out because I thought everyone did well.”

“We go into next weeks cup quarter final against Crown full of confidence.”

Despite the win Town remain in eighth spot in the Humber Premier League though are now with touching distance of the clubs around them but remain 19 points behind current leaders Sculcoates Armatures.

Town Boss Is Looking For His Side To Bounce Back Against Goole United

Beverley Town Football Club will be aiming to make it consecutive league wins as they travel to the Victoria Pleasure Ground to take on Goole United.

Rich Jagger will be a looking for a response from his players after they were dumped out of the Fish and Chips Cup last weekend going down 4-1 to Crown FC.

Commenting on his sides performance in the Cup Jagger said;

“We were one down at half time did well to get back into the game. Crown however kicked on their fitness and their quality showed in the end. I think 4-1 was a bit harsh but we had to push forward and look for the equaliser and left ourselves exposed.”

“Danny McHale and Max Thomas again played well and it was pleasing to see Craig Muirhead make it four in four with a goal.”

Beverley go into the match with Goole without Nathan Mist, but Ryan Saltmer, who Jagger says has been missing longer than Lord Lucan and Jordon Organ are both back in contention.

Commenting on selection Jagger said;

 “Thomas who is a local lad has come into the side and done a great  and done a great job and  I am really pleased to have Jordan Organ back. Organ has missed four weeks but for me has been one of our most consistent players.”

“I will be a looking a for a reaction from the players and want to see them bounce back after last weeks  disappointing result. If we win, it will put a bit of day light between us and Goole in the table.”

“Goole United are quite a physical side, our focus will be to handle their physicality and if we can get ahead, play some football then I see no reason why  should come out on top.”

“We are going there looking for a win and all three points. We want to try and climb the league table, there are seven games left and we have our sights set on over taking Reckitts.”

Goole United who have a game in hand on Town are just one place behind Beverley in the Humber Premier League with just four points separating the sides.

When the sides went head to head earlier in the season at the Norwood Recreation Ground it was Town who came out on top winning the match 3-1 in a game that included a rare goal for their skipper Nathan White.

With players returning and improved performances on the pitch the run in for Town could see them make a late charge up the league table.

Rich Jagger said he was pleased after he watched his Beverley Town side claim their first home win of the season as they beat South Cave 2-1 in the Humber Premier League.

Skipper Nathan White and the inform Alex Stark both found the back of the net in the second half as town secured a victory that moves them to fourth place in the table.

Speaking after the game Jagger said;

“It was pleasing to get our first home win of the season. We played well, defensively we were never really in trouble, and going forward we looked dangerous.”

“Our midfield was solid. Stu Oliver was excellent in middle of the park along side Kegan Rose.”

“The only disappointment was to lose Dan McHale to a red card, after he reacted to an off the ball incident.”

“We are however full of confidence and look forward to playing away at Chalk Lane next Saturday.”
They could have been more goals in this match as they hit the woodwork on more than one occasion and failed to capitalise on their dominant play and chances created.

Goalless at half time Town got off to the perfect second start in the second period when their skipper White, converted from five yards out with his second goal of the season.

Town doubled their lead just five minutes later when Aldo Hysenaj linked up with Stark who slotted home from inside the box.

With eight minutes to go in the game, Beverley Town’s Danny McHale got involved with some off the ball antics resulting in match official Wes Andrews showing the defender a straight red card.

Reduced to ten men Town with stood the pressure being put on them by South Cave but were breached in the dying moments of the match as Tom Dobson scored a consolation for the visitors.

Victory means Beverley are just three points off the top in the Humber Premier League with nine points from their opening six matches.

Final Score : Beverley Town Football Club 2 South Cave 1

Beverley Town Looking To Cause Cup Upset As They Face Carnegie

Rich Jagger says Beverley Town Football Club are looking to cause an upset as they face East Yorkshire Carnegie in the Senior Cup.

Town go into the game as underdogs though their recent run of form and results against Carnegie means Jagger will go to Dunswell Park looking for a result.

Speaking ahead of the match Jagger said;

“We are looking forward to the challenge of playing a team higher up the pyramid. We are in good form, having won three on the bounce and will go into the game full of confidence.”

“Obviously Carnegie will be favourites, and expected to win, but we are really up for it and looking to cause an upset.”

“We have a good record against them having beaten them and drawn against them in the league last season, so it should be a good game.”

Craig Muirhead was on target twice as town beat Carnegie the last time the sides met back in February of this year in the Humber premier League.

The match will see Town reunited with a number of former players who enjoyed great success in the colours of Beverley Town, including Carnegie’s manager Jonny Ricardo.

Ricardo knows his side, who are currently mid table in the Northern Counties League,  go  into the match as favourites, he said;

 “It should be a cracker. There should be a large crowd there to watch and it is a match we are all looking forward to.”

“We go into a game as favourites which is nice, but can’t take Town lightly as obviously they’ll be up for it.”

“ It’s a big game because we want a good cup run and there’s a few of us who have played for Beverley, myself, Michael O’Connell, Danny McHale and Jamie Waltham have had success with Beverley Town.”

Town will be without their Skipper Nathan White who is serving a three match ban while the clubs leading scorer Alex Stark is available for this intriguing 7.45PM encounter and Dunswell Park.

Jagger Hopes Town Can Keep Good Run Going As They Face Rangers

Beverley Town Football Club return to Humber premier League action this weekend as they face Hessle Rangers for the second time in as many weeks.

The sides met last weekend in the East Riding County FA Senior Cup with Town defeating Rangers to book their place in the semi final.

Town boss Rich Jagger says his side are full of confidence though knows that Rangers will not be easy to beat with last week’s defeat fresh in their minds.

Speaking ahead of the game Jagger told HU17.net;

“It will be a tough game again against last weeks opponents.  They will be keen to reverse the result from last week and we must be at our best to get the result.”

“Saying that we are playing with confidence and played with real spirit last week, so hopefully we can keep our good run of results going.”

Jagger will have to look to his squad after a number of his players picked up knocks in the last round of the cup, commenting on his team Jagger said;

“We go into the game missing Stu Oliver who is out with hamstring injury for three weeks, Ben Thomson who will be out for the foreseeable future with a minor ankle fracture, Alex Stark out with ankle ligament problems.”

“All these picked up last week against Hessle Rangers in the cup.”

Kurtis Bedford is also unavailable for Town while Matty Littlefield is available after serving his suspension and central defender Danny McHale is available after being cup tied last week.

Town who are in fifth place in the Humber Premier League travel to Wolferton School knowing they need a win if they are to continue to climb the table.

North Ferriby Athletic Beat Town In Humber Premier League

North Ferriby Athletic Beat Town In Humber Premier League
North Ferriby Athletic Beat Town In Humber Premier League

Beverley Town Football Club went into this game on the back of an excellent 7-2 victory against Reckitts, but mindful of complacency against a competitive Ferriby side.

Town started very slowly, and this set the tone for much of the game. Straight from the kick off some poor play let the Ferriby striker in on goal, luckily for town his one on one with keeper Ollie Thane was dragged wide.

Town continued to struggle with sloppy passing and giving the ball away too easily, and Ferriby created some good chances on the back of this. None of them was converted and town felt relieved to get to the break at 0-0.

Town made a change at half time bringing Baxter on for Ben Fletcher in a tactical switch that gave Town a bit more balance down the left.

It was Ferriby that took the lead on 55 minutes, when a cross field ball to the back post was hammered into the back of Towns goal from the left hand side angle. A great strike that keeper Ollie Thane could do nothing about.

Town responded well and pushed hard to get back into the game. Ten minutes later Town were awarded a free kick about 25 yards from goal, on the right hand side of the pitch. Up stepped Michael O’Connell who drilled an absolute peach of free kick into the top corner of the goal, even though it went to the keepers side there was nothing he could do about it.

Town now had the bit between their teeth, Joe Baxter went close on two occasions, and Craig Muirhead saw a header bounce back off the bar. So it was a little against the run of play when Ferriby scored their second, a slight mix up at the back let the Ferriby striker in who calmly finished to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes to go.

Town now threw caution to the wind, with Aldo Hysenaj coming on, and also Big Danny McHale going up front in an attempt to cause problems.

Ferriby dealt really well the threat town posed, but with only seconds left on the clock town were to create one last chance.

A fine cross into the box by Michael O’Connell landed perfectly on the head of Craig Muirhead, who from close range saw his header glance agonisingly wide of the post. That was the last of the action and town went down to their third defeat of the season.

Manager Rich Jagger spoke after the game, he said:

“I thought we started very slowly today and that set the tone for our play for most of the game. That said when Carney got the equaliser (what a strike by the way) we lifted our game a bit and thought we could go on and nick it.”

“Fair play to Ferriby though they never stopped and defended well at they end when they needed to.”

Final Score: North Ferriby Athletic 2 Beverley Town Football Club 1

Pocklington Town Head To Norwood As First Plays Third In HPL

Pocklington Town will head to Norwood this weekend to face an in-form Beverley Town in the Humber Premier League.

Currently top of the table Pocklington has a four-point advantage over Beverley Town. Rich Jagger says that Beverley will be looking to continue their winning run while also aiming to close the gap.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match Jagger said;

“This is a big game and we have a real chance to close the gap between us and Pocklington in the league. They have lost their last couple of games so we have a chance to get within a point of them.”

“Over the next three weeks, we will play them twice, while we know it will be difficult but we want to win them both. Saturday is an opportunity for us to gain a physiological advantage over them at this crucial stage in the season.”

Jagger will be missing forward Ryan Saltmer for the match. Alex Stark has a groin problem while Nathan White is still struggling with hip injury. Both will face a fitness test ahead of the game.

Danny McHale will also be assessed ahead of kick-off. The central defender needed hospital treatment following a head injury that left him needing butterfly stitches.

Jagger will, however, welcome back Ollie Baldwin and Leon Dawson into the fold giving Beverley plenty of options up front. Joe Norton is also in form and is more than capable of finding the back of the net.

Jagger Confident His Side Can Get A Result Against Leaders Pocklington Town

Having won their last three-game Jagger is confident his side can get a positive result, he said;

“Games between us in recent years have been close affairs. We are full of confidence and will play with a high tempo and get at them from the start.”

“If we can keep a clean sheet that will give us the springboard we need to get the win. Given the strength of our squad and recent form, I am sure we can get a result.”

Pocklington will arrive at Norwood on a bit of a bad run. Defeats to Hornsea Town and Sculcoates Amateurs have seen their advantage at the top reduced to just one point.

Jagger says while they may have been beaten they still pose a real threat. Pocklington has one of the leagues most prolific strikers in Daniel Boneham who has scored 13 times this season.

Beverley Town can go top of the Humber Premier League this Saturday if they beat East Riding Rangers by four clear goals.

Town who are currently third in the table will host bottom club Rangers at Norwood. Beverley Town is the only side in the top three with a game.

Manager Rich Jagger, however, is playing down his side’s chances of his side ending the day in first place. He says while Rangers may be rooted to the foot of the table they pose a real threat.

Jagger will be forced to make a number of changes as he goes into the game with a number of key players missing.

Danny McHale, Michael O’Connell, Ollie Baldwin, Ben Fletcher and Alex Stark are all ruled out.  While Ollie Thane and Leon Dawson could also be missing.

Jagger knew the festive period would be a difficult time for his side. He has been hinting for some time that the squad would be key.

Ryan Saltmer, Nathan White, Declan Corlyon and Aldo Hysenaj will all return to the squad.

The mood in The Camp Is Good Ahead Of Rangers Visit To Norwood

Speaking ahead of the game Jagger said;

“Confidence and the mood in the camp is good. We need to go into Saturday’s match looking to build on the great result we had last week beating Pocklington Town.”

“While Rangers may be at the foot of the table we can take nothing for granted. They will arrive at Norwood with a spring in their step. I certainly think they will be well up for the game against us.”

“I have told the lads they need to keep an eye on them if we are to get the win we need to stay in the mix at the top of the table.”

Jagger and his side have already beaten Rangers. When the sides met earlier in the season Town enjoyed a 6-1 win over their opponents.

A repeat of that result would see them go top of the table with just one fixture left before the Christmas break.

“While this was not a make or break fixture it is always nice to win. I felt that we were once again very strong at the back. Danny McHale was yet again immense not giving Hornsea a look in.”

“Nathan White also had a good game. He has slotted into the left-back role like he has played there all his life.”

“Aaron Cramman has also proved what a talent he is between the sticks. Following his back to back clean sheets, he has a good chance to make that position his own. It is now up to others to challenge him for the number one jersey.”

Beverley Town Football Club Gaffer Happy With Front Men

Up top Beverley proved to be a real handful. Youngster Danny Finch had a strong game in the middle of the park.  Jagger was also pleased that, Larvin, who he signed from East Riding Rangers got off the mark, he said;

“Since he has arrived at the club he has given everyone a lift. He has brought a winning mentality and desire to training which is infectious within the camp.”

“I was delighted to see him score his first HPL goal. Given all he has put in pre-season, he certainly deserved it.”

Beverley Town Football Club returns to action on Saturday when they take on Driffield Juniors. Jagger is confident his side will be able to make it back to back wins.

Jagger has also hinted that a new face could be arriving at Norwood ahead of the game. He added;
